2017: Meet PhoenixRising

Hello all and welcome to Snitchseeker!

My name is Jessica and I'll be your meet and greet mod for the month of June, in which you're welcome to ask me any questions to get to know me better!

I'll start you off with a brief introduction, but I don't want to tell you too much, as I want to leave you things to ask I joined SnitchSeeker in October 2006, due to a friend's nudging whom I met on Dissendium.com via their Triwizard Tournament Promotion they had going for the Goblet of Fire movie release. Although I didn't actually get sorted / active until January 2007, when I returned again due to the friend's nudging, and I've not looked back since. I immediately fell in love with RPing and the Fan Clubs, the latter of which I currently moderate.

In the RPG, I currently play a fourth year Slytherin girl, who's the daughter of two people who were actually played on site when I first joined, which is super cool! In the Ministry, I play the kid brother of my first ever character, along with said character's eldest daughter, so it's nice to be able to play full circle like that.

In real life, I'm a recently certified Histotechnologist and I work third shift, which is why you'll see me online at strange hours I'm born and raised in New Jersey, but relocated to the mountains of North Carolina in early 2015 and I like it most of the time.

Ummm
1. We are lame and can't remember the last book we read. *needs to get back on the reading game* we read Safe Haven by Nicholas Spark pretty recently and that was pretty good.
2. All kinds really. Fave would be country or classic rock or movie soundtracks, but I'll try just about anything
3. Both. But I wear pants most of the time
4. Again both... but generally no makeup or very natural /lightly applied / just mascara/ etc

1. I feel like I should have a better answer for this, but right now I'm hooked on watching Gilmore Girls (only like 10-15 years late). And I know that's a tv show but yea movies um... Practical Magic is pretty amazing
2. GOSH!!! That's a rude question! but Dominic and Josephina Hadley have been faves ... Tia was fun too. And Skylar is quickly rising to become one of my faves .. yea sorry can't pick just one, but like them all for various reasons depending on the criteria I guess
3. UH *thinks* Skylar's parents started dating in a similar fashion as in, her father asked in front of the school after a quidditch match for her mother to date him
4. I DO, actually. I like whipped cream more, but I like marshmallows too

1. Tough one, but we'll go with Luna Lovegood, because we ADORE the aloofness of her character, and yet she's also super smart too. Plus we totally had a friend from college who reminded me of her . Ginny Weasley, because of her feistiness, her perseverance and all around AMAZING person. Like, if i could be someone, I'd want to be Ginny. Smart, athletic, AND beautiful <3 And finally, Minerva McGonagall, because she's the perfect professor. She's strict and doesn't tolerate nonsense, yet she also genuinely cares about the well-being of her students *nods*

2. Either Minerva McGonagall or Luna Lovegood. Probably Minerva, but I feel like she has this whole backstory that we don't know about

3. Purple and Green

4. Not particularly? Well at least Harry Potter is the only fandom I have an online presence with *nods*

If you had to play a character in the movie series who would it be and why?

If you had to play a character in the book series who would it be and why?

For me it's Sirius Black for both because he had so much power and passion in his role...and of course such a heart wrenching death.

But let's be honest as soon as he posed the idea to Harry about moving into House Black you knew he was going to die.

In the movie series? Probably Ginny. Or Lily Potter (Harry's mother or daughter). Because of the red hair, which I've already got, so I wouldn't need to dye my hair

In the book series? McGonagall, because she's so stern and amazing and gives this serious facade, yet she also deeply cares about the well-being of her students and colleagues ... it's just like WOW

Honestly, this is one of my favorite questions and why i never put it in my intro

PhoenixRising first; rooted from my myspace name back in like 2006-ish, I was 'Rise_of_the_phoenix", which stemmed from the fact that I was in university at the time and like all / most uni kids... i was 'on the rise' and 'growing up' etc and the Phoenix bit came from my freshmen year of university, on this pre-college camping trip to sort of introduce me to other freshmen and familiarize myself with some people on campus. And one of the chaperones, who was a sophomore, he decided he was going to nickname me 'Phoenix' because of my red hair So there you have it, rise of the phoenix was a play on myself, since Phoenix was a nickname given my freshmen year. And I condensed it to PhoenixRising when I requested the name change in 2008, because it flowed better / was shorted and really meant the same thing

Orchideae, on the other hand, doesn't have as much a back story I liked the spell "orchideous" because it conjured flowers / orchids and they're pretty and orchideae is the classification / root for orchids and yea Not much to that story, but it felt like it represented me, which is what a username should be, right?

RPG stands for Role Playing Game, and basically it's creating a character in the Wizarding World, which can include Hogwarts (once sorted), the Ministry (once placed with a job), or generic playing Diagon Alley.... The time period for the SnitchSeeker RPG is set about 100 years currently into the future, which leaves room for creativity as far as creating characters, since direct descendants of the Potters and Weasleys (for example) are long gone by now. The current year is set at 2093, to give you an idea.

I'd say book Ginny, because while it's nice to be able to visualize the books on screen, the books leave MUCH MORE to my imagination and there's more ... 'sass and attitude' that I quite simply adore present in the books

1. for regular flavors? Chocolate. If there's a variety, then a flavor with chocolate and caramel and pecans is good *nods*
2. Not soon enough! But in the summer months, cause you get too much snow in the winter

I am from NC and love the mountains here although I'm from the triangle.

1. What is your favorite book other than HP
2. Favorite ice cream flavor

Heh, just in time and welcome back!!!
The triangle area is nice too; I almost went there post-school for a job, but got a better offer in the mountains so =D

1. I LOVE John Green books. And Mitch Albom's Tuesdays with Morrie.
2. Already asked, but *copies* for regular flavors? Chocolate. If there's a variety, then a flavor with chocolate and caramel and pecans is good *nods*
3. I've never been to the beaches in NC (I did go to Pawley's Island in SC last Nov), but I've never really been much a beach person shocking being from NJ, i know XD. So definitely prefer the mountains
