Gold's last, rather hasty - because that reversed knee was giving her trouble! - spell, of course, directed them at Ivory.

That done, the fifth year pointed her wand at her leg, which was still wobbling, and making spell-casting near impossible for her. "Finite Incantatem," she said, just in time to avoid completely losing her balance, and falling flat on her face, or something unhappy of that sort.

Protego.

Using the small split second of time while Gold began to cast, Ivory stared down at her left shoe in intense scrutiny, thank Merlin she'd practiced the very important spell that nullified spell effects after how she'd ended up after the last duel. "Finite Incantanum!"

Looking up smiling hoping maybe Gold was watching and the prefect would approve, because after all just because they were dueling didn't mean she didn't appreciate the girl as a new found friend when she paused in horror.

Ivory's eyes widened as bird upon bird headed her way with the intent of attack.
Her mind rushed through possible scenarios in the space of a second. 'Incendio'...nah she didn't want to hurt the poor things. 'Duro'? No that wouldn't do at all. 'Confringo' agh.

Finally she remembered the last Care of Magical Creatures class, and brought up her wand excitedly praying it would work.

Jabbing in the over all general direction of all the blue birds, she flicked her wrist just the tiniest bit exactly as Cela had taught her. She concentrated her intent on freezing, immobilizing, stillness, for Merlin's sakes she even thought of a giant pause button.
Immobulus!

To her great surprise, all the birds held still in mid flight as if they were hummingbirds and merely flying in place obscuring her from view.

Letting out a small sigh of relief amazed that it had worked, she used the opportunity of having them all frozen in a cloud of around her, and suddenly had an idea.

Looking down at her shoes, she pointed her wand and quietly used the charm they'd learned. "Geminio."

Leaving the clone shoes right where she'd been standing just a second ago she hoped that the prefect would see her shoes there and assume that's where she was.

Moving to the side but still covered by the birds, she aimed her wand at the floor right in front of Gold and cast a quick Trip Jinx, thinking maybe the girl would walk forward in an attempt to see through the birds, followed by a whispered "Muffliato" hoping maybe this time it would work.

In the mean time, Ivory brought up her shield once again ready for anything.
