Background- SPOILER!!: Taliesin's Life
Being born one of three meant that Taliesin Dane rarely experienced childhood alone. Between his sisters and a large extended family, there was almost always someone nearby. Taliesin never minded the company, but he quickly became comfortable letting louder personalities take the center of attention while he remained somewhere closer to the edge.
From a young age, music became one of his strongest interests. Taliesin showed considerable talent with string instruments, though the violin became his clear favorite. Playing came naturally to him, and music offered an outlet that never required him to explain himself aloud.
His talent eventually led him to compete in a young violinists competition, though the experience exposed one of his greatest difficulties. Taliesin loved playing music; he hated being watched while doing it. Overwhelmed by the size of the audience and the pressure of performing, he dropped out midway through the competition. He continued playing afterward, but became far more comfortable performing privately or around people he trusted.
That same difficulty later followed him onto the Quidditch pitch. Taliesin tried out for an English U17 Quidditch team alongside his sisters and his step-cousin Zephyr. He was never the most spectacular player among them, though under ordinary circumstances he might have had a reasonable chance of earning a reserve position. During the trials, however, the awareness of coaches and scouts scrutinizing every flight, play, and decision got the better of him. Taliesin repeatedly underperformed when the pressure was highest and ultimately failed to make the team. He was at least spared the embarrassment of being the only one left behind when Avalon deliberately underperformed during her own trial and failed to make the squad alongside him.
Hogwarts took time for Taliesin to adjust to. Crowded corridors, unfamiliar faces, and constant activity were hardly his ideal environment, but Hufflepuff gradually became a comfortable home within the castle. He developed a smaller circle of people he trusted rather than trying to know everyone, and those close to him discovered that his quiet first impression hid a dry sense of humor and a much more talkative side when something genuinely interested him.
Outside of music, Taliesin developed a fondness for mystery and darker fantasy novels, particularly stories filled with complicated characters, hidden motives, and mysteries to unravel. He tends to notice details, listen carefully, and think before speaking.
Although Taliesin has become more comfortable navigating Hogwarts over the years, his dislike of crowds and public attention has never disappeared. He has simply grown better at managing them. He remains happiest with a violin in his hands, a book nearby, and only a few familiar people around him.
