Morgan paused in his shovel and gave him a questioning look when the other boy offered to sleep in the barn instead of his own bed. Okay, it might have been cool for like a sleepover or something, but for the whole school year? It would get old, especially the smell.
And then they were apologizing, Kitt and Isla. Morgan wasn't exactly sure what was going on. Was he supposed to apologize too? He hadn't done anything wrong though and was just here to help the professor spell his parents' names and prove that he was enough of a hard worker to earn his very own kneazle. So he turned back to shovel the last of the poop.
It looked like it was time to go and Morgan was kind of glad. This was hard work! But he turned to look back at the professor again after putting his shovel away. So Isla got to keep her kneazle and Kitt wasn't allowed one? He furrowed his brow together. "What about me, Professor? Can I keep Charlie? He can stay out here in the barn, I won't hide him under my bed." He'd take real good care of him, promise!
